Over 25 Years Working With Signature
Signature is the leading awarding body for deaf communications qualifications in the UK.
Our lead tutor, Gary has been awarded North West Teacher of the Year twice by Signature.
“Doing the BSL level 3 course online with Gary has exceeded my expectations.
Gary is precise, knowledgeable and uses clear examples to help illustrate what can seem like rather daunting linguistic information to begin with. Gary is patient but helps his students achieve higher standards in all areas of signing, but also in stepping inside the Deaf world, understanding Deaf culture and history more. The course has helped me to understand my Deaf friends more – an added bonus I wasn’t expecting.
Before starting the course, I wondered if being online would hinder my learning, but it’s been fine, if not better in many ways. Every session is filmed, so students can catch up if they’ve missed a session, or watch the lesson again to help embed their learning (which wouldn’t be available if the course was in person). We also got to be in an online “class” with people from different areas, so got to improve receptive skills for different regional signs.
The website has excellent resources and is organised clearly so materials are easy to access. Everyone on the course loved the “Who are they?” section, where we researched about a person from the Deaf community. This was certainly eye opening, as we learnt about their experiences.
Gary organised the work load throughout the course so it wouldn’t be overwhelming at the end, meaning the exams were not as chaotic as you might expect, because we’d been well prepared.
I would highly recommend Gary’s BSL level 3 course to anyone who is considering it; it’s well worth the time and money!”

“I just wanted to thank Gary for the excellent tutoring
over the past year.
Gary, you were thorough, organised, reliable and quality and you made the sessions challenging but achievable. Your funny and encourgaing personality made it a pleasure to be in your class and made the learning fun.”
